Under the Sea

The children researched their ocean animal, created models in art class, and shared some of the important facts about their ocean animal using the app Chatter Pix.  The children would love to hear what you enjoyed and learned about our ocean animals, so please leave us a comment after viewing our Under the Sea slideshow.

Science News

The children have inspired one another to make their science projects as life-like as possible.  They have written amazing research reports that are informative, well-written and even humorous.  We look forward to our Second Grade Extravaganza this Friday from 9:15 to approximately 11:30.
Thank you Ms. Spencer for helping me design the habitat for the Longfin Squid.

We are architects as we create the habitats of our ocean animals.

Very Important O-C-E-A-N Points

We read an interesting and informative book called  The Magic School Bus and the Ocean Floor recently, and after our research we determined three VIPs (Very Important Points).  After careful editing for C-O-P-S and certain we determined the most important factual information, we then created models of ourselves snorkeling on the ocean floor.  We can't wait to share our hard work with you on June 6th during our Author Share/Science Fair.
We are snorkelers investigating the ocean floor, a fun way to integrate reading, writing, and art!

Field Trip to the Gloucester Maritime Museum

The children enjoyed today's excursion to the Gloucester Maritime Museum and experienced several hands-on activities to solidify what we've learned in the classroom about ocean animals.

We learned so many interesting facts about ocean animals, we can't wait to share it with you!

A sea star uses suction cups to hold onto rocks during strong ocean currents.
This crab is E-N-O-R-M-O-U-S, and I am fearless!
