Finding the Main Idea

Please ask your child to share how to find the main idea of a paragraph or story.  You will be amazed when your child can identify the topic of a paragraph, determine its main idea, and locate several supporting details within the paragraph.  Here are two examples we completed as a class.  Be sure to look for their packets in tomorrow's "mail," and ask them to explain what "supporting the roof means."
