I hope you are enjoying the last few days of summer vacation and are looking forward to a year of learning in second grade. I've had a great summer and can't wait to share my adventures with you, but more importantly I can't wait to hear about your summer news. Some of you may have traveled to a vacation spot and spent time with family and friends, or perhaps you had a "stay home" vacation and read an adventurous book or two. We'll have an opportunity to share our summer news soon, so think about your favorite summer event, because our first story is titled "My Favorite Summer Memory." As you can see from my photograph, one of my favorite summer memories was climbing to the top of Mt. Chocorua, I can't wait to share the details of my adventure with you when we all write our favorite stories.
I hope you received my letter this week and I think you can tell I'm eager to get back to school and see you all. Our classroom is nearly ready to welcome you and I know we're going to have a terrific year full of laughter, smiles and learning. I promise to write back and it will be great to get to know you all a little bit better before the school year begins.
